Chromag has been making bikes for almost 20 years, and all of this knowledge and expertise has trickled down into creating full suspension bikes - Darco and Lowdown. As you might have expected, these bikes draw strongly on Chromag's steel hardtail roots
The shop's go-to hardtail - the Rootdown offers something for everyone from seasoned vets to first time riders. The reactivity of hardtails allows them to be great learning devices for everyone. Paired with its ability to run 27.5+ tires, you can truly ride this bike year round. The G2 build has everything you need and nothing you don't
The Monk features the Chromag's unique stainless steel horizontal dropout system for minimal complications with single-speed/disc brake setup. Custom chain stays paired with dedicated DJ geometry offer you a light and incredibly stiff rear triangle on a low slung steel weapon
Find the perfect frame and build your dream bike to enjoy your favourite trails and parks. All frames are made from quality 4130 chromoly steel tubing. It has a high tensile strength but is also malleable, giving Chromag frames their notorious ride quality and feel
The Primer, Doctahawk and Surface Voyager are hand-welded and custom painted to order in BC by renowned frame builders Chris Dekerf and Brad Howlett. Chromag uses local print and embroidery where possible for small runs of clothing. Chromag also sports a number of made in Canada products, such as the RIZA stem, which are CNC machined in Whistler. Giving unparalleled access to product development and quality control, Chromag leaves nothing to chance
The actual origin of the logo comes from a tiger that Ian, the brand owner, drew when he was a kid. The tiger was standing on top of a mountain and swiping at planes flying by. Later, when Ian started Chromag in 2003, he asked his mum to draw a bear and base it off the tiger. This is what she came up with. Since then it's been sharpened and cleaned up a bit, but the same original design is still very much apparent
Chromag is a team of true bike lovers. Many of the Chromag staff make an effort to ride to work every day, some even when there's snow on the ground. Throughout the summer (or any time there's not snow on the ground), the whole crew generally rides together twice a week. They have staff yoga once a week and a daily "scurv plate" of fruit to keep fighting fit
The design process starts with function and performance with an emphasis on durability and reliability. From there, it then extends to every detail they can think of including the final graphic and creative options for colour. All Chromag bikes are built by hand, either in BC or by a skilled team of welders in Taiwan. Whether local or abroad, frames are made using the brand's own proprietary subcomponents and tube sets. Custom geometry, CNC'd dropouts and junctions, custom tube sets, and modern designs are what set Chromag frames apart from the rest
